History of Kester School
The Kester School District was established on April 19, 1930. Kester School is a one room, K-8 school that is located in Garfield County, Montana. The school has moved several times over the years of its existent, due to various circumstances, from fires to enrollment. The building that is used now, came to its final resting spot in the mid 60's, 26 miles Northeast of the town of Jordan, between the Hell Creek and Big Dry arms of the Fort Peck Lake on the Haxby Road.
During the school year 2012/2013, an addition was added to the back of the school. This addition almost doubled the size of the school and created a Lunch/Multipurpose room and a Library/OT room. It was a great benefit to the school and helped tremendously in the need for space for students.
The original building was completely remodeled during the summer of 2017. The floor was upgraded to a heated mono slab and the restrooms were remodeled to be ADA compliant. It has made the school very efficient and comfortable for the entire community to enjoy.

There are many technological advances incorporated into the school, from I-pads for every student to a Smart Board, as well as laptop computers. The Library has a full array of books on hand for students to extend their knowledge with. Most of the curriculum is textbook/online based to give the student the benefit of both sides of the learning spectrum and is updated every few year to keep up with the Standards.

Tradition runs deep throughout the school, school district and community members. Current students attending school are children or grandchildren to former students of Kester School. Everyone in the community has a tie to the school that carries throughout generations. This is also seen during the holidays, when students put on the annual Potluck Christmas Program for everyone to attend.
